Bon Voyage
In my Travel Plans post from last October, I mentioned that Arnon and I had planned a trip to Greece, Turkey and Israel in the spring. Well, it's spring and it's time for us to head overseas.
Originally, we planned to be away for six weeks, but because of Arnon's work schedule, we had to cut our vacation to four weeks. Around the time we were house hunting and scrambling to secure financing, we were also rearranging our tours, changing flight plans, and feeling pretty miserable about missing out on such sights as Meteora, Troy and Pergamom.
Alright, so Arnon was unphased, but I was genuinely upset. After all, what are the odds that I will be able to return to Greece and Turkey in the future just to see these remotely located archaeological ruins?
* sigh *
Such despair.
For the last four months I've been dreading this trip, mostly because of what I now describe as the REM factor. Generally, this sense of dread doesn't ease up until a few days into a trip, but this time around it eased up earlier and I've actually been excited about leaving, at least for the last week or so. I attribute this change in feelings to having had it with the home renovation project, which is still going on, and wanting to escape from it.
Since we're currently homeless and essentially living out of our car, our bags for the trip have been packed for a few weeks. We just need to make it through this work day and then we're free.
I swear, if the house isn't ready by the time we return, someone's gonna get hurt real bad. [Russell Peter reference, in case you missed it.]
Since I won't have a chance to post anything for a while ...
