True Colors Concert

A few weeks back, Arnon, Richard, Wes and I went to the True Colors Concert at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, an event in support of the Human Rights Campaign. The Cliks, Dresden Dolls, Debbie Harry, Rosie O'Donnell, Erasure, Margaret Cho and Cindi Lauper performed.

The Cliks were ok, the Dresden Dolls were very good, but Debbie Harry ... oh dear. Let's just say that when she took the stage, Arnon told me that it was like watching his grandmother dance on stage. Creepy. Plus, other than French Kissing in the USA, she only performed songs from her upcoming album.

Rosie O'Donnell was funny and Margaret Cho, who hosted the event, was her usual hilarious self. But the highlight of the night was Erasure. They sang their biggest hits and it was great to watch Arnon sing his little heart out as he swayed to the music.

Cindi Lauper came on last and though I love her songs, she's not actually a very good singer. Still, the crowd went crazy when she broke into Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.

The concert ended with the ensemble singing True Colors, a song I've never been fond of but now like.
